Review: Pretty Pretty Please by Susan Hetherington – 612 ABC Brisbane

Theatre reviewer Susan Hetherington had some lovely things to say about Pretty, Pretty Please? on 612 ABC Brisbane’s Breakfast show on Friday 9th July, with Spencer Howson.

“Can we have ice-cream for dinner? Pleeease!?! Or what about we invite Taylor Swift over? Pleeease!?!” Does any of this sound familiar?
It’s all in the way we ask. Pretty, Pretty Please? takes us on a roller coaster ride through the questions, answers, challenges and discoveries of how children ask for what they want
I admit, I’m a sucker for puppy dog eyes. Give me those and there’s every chance I’ll relent. If any small person in my house was to try the insanely good balancing, flipping, climbing, contorting magic of the Flipside kids resistance would be useless. I might even give in just to stop them doing things that look to the untrained eye like they could kill you. These kids, some as young as 11, are amazing and have all the skills and stage presence of the veterans of the circus arts. Not all their juggling is completely masterful but the other acts have the same jaw-dropping brilliance of the big budget shows. If you have children who want to run away to join the circus (or some who you rather wish just might) this is one hour you should not miss.
