Flipside Circus, Queensland’s largest youth circus, will premier their latest show Revolve as part of the Commonwealth Games Festival 2018 at Southbank in Brisbane.

Revolve brings together 12 of Queensland’s youngest circus stars with experienced artists and a live DJ to create a show that is bursting at the seams with energy and fun.

Highly rehearsed elements are combined with moments of improvisation, as the circus artists play with the DJ and the rhythms of movement and music.

Revolve is all about children and young people taking charge, it’s about the future, it’s about play and it’s a lot of fun,” says the show’s dramaturge Robert Kronk who is also Flipside’s creative producer. “It’s a bit like circus jazz.”

The show plays on the concept of circles, loops and most significantly wheels, as many as possible jammed on stage! This includes group bike, roller skates, unicycles, roller blades and more. Combined with an awesome soundtrack delivered by live DJ Kitty Gattling, Revolve delivers a good dose of fun with serious circus skill.

The audience spent the night holding their breath, in complete awe of the talent of these young performers,” – The Creative Issue

“A little slice of home-grown circus magic,” – Australian Stage

Flipside Circus values children and young people as cultural creators, delivering a model of contemporary circus where young artists stretch themselves as performers. As such, Revolve has been developed in a collaborative effort by Flipside Circus’ performance troupe who range in age from 8 years to 17 years old, trainers Aliya Abeshiva and Davy Sampford, professional circus performers, DJ Kitty Gattling, renowned circus artist Chelsea McGuffin and dramaturge Robert

Revolve has been commissioned by Festival 2018 and promises fun for the whole family. The show is designed for public spaces.
