Chelsea McGuffin

Chelsea has worked extensively within the circus industry in Australia and internationally for over 17 years. Originally training in Dance at the Centre for Performing Arts, Adelaide before moving into circus and working with companies including Circa, Circus Monoxide, Tony’s Imaginary Circus, Queensland Theatre Company, as Artistic Director with Vulcana Women’s Circus and most recently performing and co creating 'Cantina’ a new Spiegel tent performance which in now successfully tour the world. Some career highlights; training at The Moscow State Circus School training with international clown Angela Decastro. Creating major touring works with CIRCA which toured internationally including performances at La Tohu Montreal, Bogotá International Arts festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Opera House Sydney Festival, tours to Belgium, France, Germany, Canada, UK, Hungary, Romania and a solo performance 'Regarding the Joy of Others' for the 2009 Brisbane Festival and Smoke and Mirrors 2010 Sydney Festival.
   

Alyssa Venning

Alyssa has been teaching for Flipside Circus for the last 7 years. Her teaching passion lies within the realms of hula hoops, aerials and tightwire. Alyssa has completed training in childhood development and sees circus as a tool which is beneficial for both cognitive and physical development.
   

Davey Samford

Davey has been performing juggling and teaching other circus skills for over 12 years. He's also a veteran of Circa Ensemble where he was a part of developing and performing creative circus work for around six years. He has also appeared with Circus Monoxide and Circus OZ. He has studied at the Circo-Arts school in New Zealand, and trained with Adrian Kirk(UK) and Vladislav Bonderenko (Ukraine). Davey is also an integral member of the outrageous but much loved ‘Briefs’ crew.
   

Pitisi Hatcher

Pitisi (Tisi) has only been part of Flipside since July 2011 but is already an integral part of our circus program. She has a vast amount of experience in community cultural development, working in communities ranging from South Korea to remote indigenous communities in central Australia. She has performed in Edinburgh Fringe Festival (UK), Avignon Fringe Festival (France) and Berlin Lauct Festival (Germany).
   

Mikayla Anderson

Mikayla Anderson has been involved with circus for over 9 years and started teaching circus when she was 16. She was part of a troupe called ‘a bit Blaze’, which was a great experience and gave her an insight into how the circus industry really is. She is currently in her third year of university studying a Bachelor of Education (Primary).
   

Natano Fa’anana

Natano is the sixth member of Polytoxic Theatre Company and he is also the co-creator and performer in Briefs. Natano brings to the Circus Arts a fresh new approach drawing inspiration from his Polynesian routes. With a broad experience in circus skills, specializing mainly in aerials, he is also a trainer for Brisbane-based companies Circa and Flipside Youth Circus.
   

Lachlan McAulay

Since graduating from the Flying Fruit Fly Circus Lachlan has achieved great feats before the age of 20. He has performed extensively throughout Australia and Europe in a range of leading theatres, festivals and companies, including Circa. He regularly leads circus skills projects in regional Australia and constructs circus tents for company Strut and Fret as well as designing and building props and sets for a range of independently produced shows.
   

Ellen Grow

Ellen has been part of Flipside Circus for over 5 years. She started as a student in the performance troupe and is now a trainer with Flipside. In 2009 at age 17 she moved to Beijing, China to study at the international Arts School. In Beijing she underwent intensive training to advance her circus skills. Ellen returned back home in 2011 and is now back sharing her skills and knowledge with Flipside.
   

Jesse Scott

Jesse Scott is a graduate of the Flying Fruit Fly Circus where he spent 11 years training and touring under the watchful eye of some of the world’s greatest circus trainers. After graduating in 2004 Jesse toured as a freelance performer working with companies including Legs on the Wall and the Australian Opera, as well as performing at corporate functions. He has also been heavily involved with the Brewarrina Youth Circus and Flipside Circus. In 2008 Jesse became a full time ensemble member with Circa.
