This is a 2 hour class for 18 + years who are interested in learning new skills, meeting new people, gaining flexibility, strength and want to have a good time doing it. Have you ever wanted to juggle, climb a trapeze, ride the group bike, walk a tight wire and gain core and upper body strength? This class is for you!
Aged 5 - 6. We call this the Rosellas class! It follows on from the absolute beginner Wednesday Wrigglers 3.30 - 4.30pm class providing beginners who have already attended 1-2 terms with Flipside a little more skill development. Participants learn new skills and also work on improving existing skills, while concentrating primarily on circus being a fun activity.
Our Flipper Roo's are aged 5 - 9 and are a performance opportunity class. Come and learn basic circus skills such as lyra, tissu, static trapeze, juggling, hoops, and tumbling. Begin to develop the skills you need to be part of a performance. This class offers our kindy kids a chance to explore circus skills in class and then use them to create performance.
Aged 4 - 5. This class is for absolute beginners. We affectionately call them the Wrigglers. This class aims to open the particpants up to many different circus skills whilst concentrating on the primary objective of having FUN!
An interactive way for kids to develop stength, flexibility and co-ordination as well as improving their motor skills.
For the first time, Flipside is developing a circus troupe for our Samford community to attend. This class will maintain a strong skill development but will have a focus towards developing solo and group acts and teaching performance skills. This is a performance opportunity class offering students the chance to develop skills for performances in the local community. You must have completed one term in the beginners class to participate in the program.
The Beginner Classes act as an entry level to the Recreational Program for young people over the age of 6. They are a fun introduction to a variety of new circus skills, and for many, their first experience with aerials. The classes includes games, warm ups, stretching, strength, and fun group activities. Come along and learn all the skills of the circus including tissu, static trapeze, lyra, juggling, hoops, acro balance and tumbling.
Intermediate Classes teach circus skills at a more advanced level, allowing students to try out all Flipside has to offer and focus on specialist areas. Classes are fun, friendly and led by professional circus artists. These classes are for those wanting to further develop their circus skills, general strength and flexiblity. Come and learn all the skills of the circus including tissu, static trapeze, lyra, juggling, hoops, acrobatics, mini tramp, tight wire, trampoline and tumbling.
This class is designed for our students that have moved through beginners and general classes and are now ready for more advanced training. In advanced classes we focus on training skills, strength and body control. This class will suit those who are ready to push their skills and are not interested in performing. This class is skill focused only and will have a strong aerial component in class. You will need to be approved by a Flipside trainer to participate in this class.

Circus Jam is an open learning class where the trainers assist you in the skills of your interest in a fun and inviting way. The class allows students to warm up and play circus games as a ground then move to areas in which they are interested in focusing. This class is for those who want to enjoy a fun weekend activity with out the commitment. If the student becomes more interested in circus as a focus activity we would recommend joining the beginners after school program

Some career highlights have been training at The Moscow State Circus School and with international clown Angela Decastro. Creating major touring works with CIRCA which toured internationally including performances at La Tohu Montreal, Bogotá International Arts festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Opera House Sydney Festival, tours to Belgium, France, Germany, Canada, UK, Hungary, Romania and a solo performance 'Regarding the Joy of Others' for the 2009 Brisbane Festival.
Assistant to the Head Trainer - Marischka Morrow Marischka took on the role of Assistant to the Head Trainer when the job was created early in 2009. She follows up administratively for the Head Trainer and organises performers for gigs and events, costumes for performances, email notes etc. Marischka has two children who are circus performers and is totally committed to circus for children and young people. Marketing Coordinator - Kate Malone Kate joined Flipside Circus as office junior after she left school. Her role has developed over the years and Kate is responsible for publicising school holiday workshops, in school program, after school classes. Kate also organises media for performances and events and mail outs. Kate has experience in In Design and has recently designed Flipside posters and marketing material. Flipside Circus Board

Tony Moore - Tony is the chief reporter for brisbanetimes.com.au, Fairfax’s online news and media website in Brisbane. He covers state and local government, transport and conservation issues. He was the President of the Flipside Board this year and has been on the Board in general roles for four years before that. He first became involved with Flipside through his daughter, Georgia. Before that he was an inaugural Board member of the IpswichArtGallery. He was secretary on the West End State School Parents and Citizens Association for four years.
Treasurer
Gay McCosker - Gay served last year as the treasurer on the Flipside Board and introduced some changes to the way finance issues are reported. Her career background is in the hospitality industry having worked in, managed or owned food businesses. She has served on several committees during this time including: 4 years on Buranda State School P&C committee, 2 terms as vice president, 1 term as treasurer, 9 years on the board of Restaurant Catering Qld, 1 term as Chair of Restaurant Catering Qld Brisbane branch. Gay is the parent of Chavi, a Flipside participant and joined the Flipside Committee in May 2008. She retains a passion for the arts having studied dance and music for most of her life. She is currently part of a Tribal bellydance troupe and regularly performs in community and professional shows.

Luke Harriman recently joined the Flipside board. He studied Theatre Studies at Queensland University of Technology where he was heavily involved in student theatre, Luke spent a number of years working in the performing arts in Brisbane and abroad. He has undertaken a variety of roles including Producer, Production Manager, Administrator, Teacher/Instructor, Technician and Performer. He has worked as a Production Manager and managed multi-venue box offices in Edinburgh during the Fringe Festival. In Brisbane, Luke spent a number of years at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in ticketing and has also worked on a variety of events with local theatre and production companies such as Debase Productions and Strut n Fret. Working as a Producer at Brisbane Powerhouse from 2005 - 2008, Luke was responsible for a number of large community events such as the Pasifika Festival as well as programming Powerhouse's popular school holiday's program Powerkidz. Luke currently works as a Program Officer for Brisbane City Council's Creative Communities Team. He is responsible for delivering a variety of events and initiatives including the Schools Engagement Program, which is developed in consultation with the Lord Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee.
Annie Peterson Annie has recently joined the Flipside board and worked in Brisbane for twenty years as a Performer, Producer and Director of major theatre and multi-genre arts festivals and companies. Annie’s arts industry network is massive and she has a vast understanding of producing events and managing not for profit arts organisations. She was also a member of Brisbane City Council’s Performing Arts Advisory Committee 1998-2002 and a Judge for the ARIAs (Australian Recording Industry Awards) 2000-2003. Her work history includes: Research Assistant/interviewer for MUSP 21 – a longitudinal study following mothers and their children over 21 years (the ‘children’ were between 18- 21 for this phase, Research and Publications Officer for Prisoners Legal Service – write a quarterly journal on prison issues; attend stakeholder meetings; liaise with government officials; write and publish a book on prison law in Queensland, Project Development Officer Red Cross Night Cafe –Run a cafe for homeless and marginalised young people in inner city Brisbane; create, develop and implement ‘so superfly’ a workshop designed specifically for Indigenous chromers – included Traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Games, circus workshops, music workshops. On a personal note Kobie believes very strongly in the use of arts as a medium to connect people from all walks of life. Has worked with young people in varying contexts for many years and understands the important role that not for profit community organisations play in developing young people. As a creative consultant on various circus, dance and theatre productions Fez has gained valuable experience working on many intimate events through to major productions with Strut and Fret Production House and Flipside Circus.

Lowana Moxham Coming from a performance background in dance, Lowana developed an interest in production and stage management. After graduating from USQ in production, Lowana worked for several years in the theatre industry for La Boite, Queensland Theatre Company, Sydney Theatre Company, QPAC and numerous community organisations such as Vulcana Women’s Circus as well as independent artists for the Brisbane Festival. Lowana has participated in mentoring programs with Catalyst, and worked with Access Arts in developing arts in disability projects. Through her interest in producing, Lowana moved into event management and began producing festivals and major community celebrations and concert events for the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (Australia Day celebrations at South Bank, Queensland Week celebrations at Roma Street Parkland and other major community events. Lowana worked for Ipswich Events Corporation for a number of years producing annual Christmas Concerts, the Ipswich Festival, street parades and was responsible for the development of popular culture projects such as Screen Culture (small screen animation). She now works for South Bank Corporation in the Event Coordination team and is responsible for venue hire and management of hirers at South Bank.
